Old Enough To Remember

1950

Nat King Cole recorded Mona Lisa, which went on to hit No. 1 in July and sold three million copies. Cole was not particularly enthusiastic about the song before recording it.

1955

Elvis Presley was interviewed on Jimmy Dean’s television show, “Town & Country Jubilee”. It was broadcast from Washington D.C. Elvis did not sing on the show.

Fats Domino recorded Ain’t It A Shame, a song he wrote. It would be the first of 66 songs that would chart for Fats, reaching No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The label showed the song as Ain’t It A Shame but is most always listed as Ain’t That A Shame. Pat Boone would release his cover version later in 1955 and changed the title to Ain’t That A Shame because he thought it was grammatically incorrect.

1956
