It’s a sad day, as perhaps the best new TV show of the season, Luck, gets canceled. Now before you can blame HBO (they did say they renewed Luck for a second season), they canceled the show after three horses died in production.
I don’t exactly blame HBO for this decision, at least not completely. A bunch of animal humane centers criticized the show after the horses’ deaths, and the network probably doesn’t want that controversy. Besides, the show averaged only 500,000, which isn’t too great compared to Boardwalk Empire or Game of Thrones.
Still, I’m pretty annoyed. How could TV ignore such a fine product delivered from Michael Mann and David Milch, with a fine cast with Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte? And really, it seems almost criminal that shows such as Boss and American Horror Story can get award attention (Kelsey Grammar undeservingly won at the…
