A a young man, Louis played piano in theaters for silent movies and, in later years, he became involved in the Paris jazz scene. At age 22, he played in the pit orchestra at the Rex Theater with Duke Ellington and Jack Hylton. Opened in 1932, Le Grand Rex, is still the largest cinema, theater and music venue in Paris. It is a landmark of the Art Deco style of architecture.
Louis loved jazz, as long as it was good jazz!
