Having faith in the wealth of what one has is something that many of us have to awaken to whether it be on a personal or social level. When Tunisia’s Jasmine Revolution seemed to pass through its period of unrest to vote in a new government on December 23 2011, a number of the Egyptian youth revolutionaries looked on with envy – they had made it, so it was believed. However, just as protests erupt on the streets of Cairo again amidst the air of “I told you so” as a growing number of people realize that they were too ready to handover governance of their country through a questionable though peaceful electoral process to SCAF and the National Justice and Freedom Party (Muslim Brotherhood). Tracy Chapman – 1988

I remember falling in love with Tracy Chapman’s music when I saw the video for Give Me One Reason on VH1 (back when they played music videos). Probably on one of those days I pretended to be sick so I could stay home from school, get comfortable in my parents room with the blinds closed and watch day time TV (the soaps, the music, the talk shows… Ricki Lake and Sally!).

You can dream to this song. We don’t all have the perfect lives we want… can you say you haven’t hoped someone would take you away from it? White knights and shining armor. And even they aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

This is the fifth part of The David Bowie Story, a BBC documentary series about the life and times of one of the greatest and most influential artists in popular music. Bowie is now more confident and with the 1980 album Scary Monsters, partly recorded at Keith Richard’s house in Jamaica, he finds a new balance. He now wears suits on stage and reaches a new peak in popularity with Let’s Dance, his best selling album to date and – ironically – also his most criticized.

Obamacare got its day in court. But I wonder if it really matters whether we keep it, or not. The underpinnings of our society are shifting in chaos. Unless a just and merciful God intervenes, I wonder if my child will know half of the freedoms and advantages I have known.

Atlas Shrugged 2 is being filmed. They offered Jerry Doyle a part as a stand in. On his show today, he turned them down. I understand. Its not so much that he doesn’t want to play a part in awakening our society. Its just….who really wants to have their role relegated into insignificance?

After all, isn’t that what it is all about. Jerry Doyle wants to matter, so he wants to do voice overs….or at least, do something more effective than having a bit part as a stand in. Obama wants to matter. So he drums up this health…
