Verdict: Read it!
Italo Calvino pulled off something extremely rare in Invisible Cities. Can you imagine a book—that you would want to read—composed solely of dialogue between two characters, and then the descriptions of cities that don’t exist? Well, that’s exactly what Invisible Cities is. Marco Polo and Kublai Khan are beautifully revealed through their conversations, but the tospy-turvey metropolises steal the show. This 165 page book is hypnotizing and obsession-worthy. I picked it up and stopped all of my other reading until I finished it. I think most will do the same. Read it!
